We recently welcomed Simon Ruri as Operations Manager at The George, Christchurch.  Simon is looking forward to continuing the established personalised service that The George is known for.

Simon brings extensive knowledge of the hospitality industry in both corporate and leisure hotels.  His passion and dedication to his craft has earned him roles with a range of premium hotel brands throughout New Zealand as well as working in operational roles delivering world-class events. 

In line with our commitment to ongoing professional development and the future of our industry, The George is partnering with Lincoln University to offer The George Hotel Scholarship. The George supports those seeking a career in the hotel industry and studying a Bachelor of Commerce – Hotel and Tourism Management at Lincoln University via The George Hotel Scholarship.

Lincoln University and The George, Christchurch, are delighted to be working in partnership to ensure future hotel managers get the best start in their careers with the announcement of The George Scholarship. The Scholarship is awarded to a student studying for the Bachelor of Commerce – Hotel and Tourism Management at Lincoln University, Christchurch, New Zealand. The George Scholar receives $3,000.00 and ongoing employment and mentoring during their study.   

Associate Professor in Hotel Management Dr Anthony Brien of Lincoln University says, “The Scholarship offered by The George is to be applauded and demonstrates their commitment to high standards in hotel management; typical of their excellence in luxury hotel management. The opportunity to work at The George while studying blends learning with practical experience to create professional hotel management careers, ensuring the hotel industry continues to be successful”.
